Our Mission

Our mission is to protect and promote cultural heritage sites, ancient Halych; to conduct search, research, scientific-methodological, information, and cultural-educational work.

Our Objectives

In the field of cultural heritage protection:

  • development of scientifically sound proposals regarding the regimes for preservation and use of cultural heritage objects that are part of the Reserve, ensuring their maintenance, protection, preservation, and proper use;
  • conducting work on identifying, scientific study, recording, and other measures for accounting for immovable cultural heritage objects that are part of the Reserve, related movable items, works of monumental, fine, applied art, preparation of documentation for their state registration;
  • preparation of draft protection agreements for monuments that are part of the Reserve;
  • conducting scientific search expeditions, archaeological research;
  • submitting proposals to the central executive body in the field of cultural heritage protection regarding the inclusion of cultural heritage objects in the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine, and making changes to it;
  • participation in the development and implementation of state programs in the field of cultural heritage protection;
  • implementation of a complex of scientifically sound measures for rehabilitation, restoration, conservation, museification, as well as adaptation and repair of cultural heritage objects, revealing their most characteristic features, reproduction of lost or damaged elements;

  • ensuring the protection of cultural heritage objects within the Reserve from the threat of destruction, ruin, or damage;
  • ensuring, in the manner prescribed by law, the manufacture, installation, and maintenance of protective plaques, protective signs, other informational inscriptions, marks on monuments that are part of the Reserve, or within their territory.

In the field of accounting and preservation of museum collections:

  • conducting, in the manner prescribed by law, work on the formation (including items discovered during archaeological research on the territory of the Reserve, other scientific search expeditions, donated items, items purchased by decision of the Reserve’s Fund-Purchasing Commission) and accounting of museum collections, organizing proper conditions for their storage and ensuring the conduct of necessary preventive and restoration work;
  • participation in the development and implementation of state programs in the field of museum affairs;
  • development of proposals and tasks on the museification of fund items, organization of restoration work;
  • creating conditions for public access to fund collections of museum items and their introduction into scientific circulation through open exhibition, creation of card indexes, catalogs, guides.

In the field of research work:

  • organization, coordination, and conduct of scientific research in the Reserve;
  • organization and participation in scientific and practical conferences, theoretical seminars, and round tables;
  • development, based on scientific research, of the general scientific concept of the Reserve’s activities, plans for the museification of monuments, proposals regarding the regime of preservation and the procedure for using cultural heritage objects on its balance sheet, definition of monument protection, scientific fund, scientific exhibition work;
  • documentation of the results of the Reserve’s research work in the form of reports, scientific and popular science publications, theoretical and scientific-methodological works, catalogs, scientifically unified passports of museum items and accounting documentation for immovable cultural heritage objects, descriptions of museum collections and individual items, scientific-auxiliary.

In the field of cultural and educational work::

  • providing guided tours of the Reserve and
    museum exhibitions;
  • Conducting thematic lectures, organizing meetings with cultural and

  • organizing festivals, fairs, concerts, and other events for
    educational purposes and to popularize the Reserve’s activities on
    a paid and free basis depending on the nature of the event;
  • popularizing its activities through scientific, popular science, and
    periodical publications, radio, television, and other mass media, distributing printed materials;
  • developing the infrastructure of excursion services within the
    Reserve, providing relevant paid services and setting prices for them in
    the manner prescribed by law.

In the sphere of museum and exhibition work:

  • participation in the development and implementation of state programs in the field of museum affairs and cultural heritage protection;
  • organizing stationary and traveling exhibitions both within the Reserve and beyond its borders, including abroad;
  • carrying out, in the established manner, the exchange of exhibitions with cultural and scientific institutions of Ukraine and other states, providing exhibits for exhibitions, including abroad.

In the field of archival and library work:

  • completing the scientific library in accordance with the specifics of the Reserve’s activities. Based on its activities, the Reserve forms a scientific archive, which includes:
  • prospective and annual plans and reports on their implementation, minutes of meetings of the Academic and other councils;
  • results of research work in the form of theoretical and scientific-methodological works, scientific card indexes, catalogs, fund reviews, scientific passports of museum objects and accounting documentation for cultural
    heritage objects that are part of the Reserve, descriptions of museum collections and individual items, scientific support materials;
  • thematic and thematic-exhibition plans of museum expositions and held exhibitions;
  • scientific and methodological developments of excursions, literary and artistic events, lecture texts; sketches and photo-, film-, video-, audio- and other materials that have scientific or cultural value;
  • correspondence;
  • materials on the celebration of memorable dates, anniversaries, etc.
  • The activities of the scientific archive are regulated by the Regulations on the Scientific Archive of the Reserve, which are approved by the General Director of the Reserve.

In the sphere of publishing activities:

  • preparation for publication of scientific and popular science publishing products within the approved planned allocations by the Authorized Management Body and other funds to reflect the Reserve’s activities: collections of articles, conference materials, catalogs of museum collections, scientific monographs, popular science publications, booklets, guidebooks, postcards, and
