Rizi wore a gazzan during worship in the kenesa

Prayer shawl – tallit, tassels at the ends – tzitzit, arba kenafot

The tallit – is a long and wide covering made of white silk or linen fabric with long blue tassels at its four ends and a rather wide decorative overlay, on which verses from the Holy Scriptures or the name of the person who donated it were traditionally embroidered in gold.
