
The Department of Archeology of the National Reserve “Ancient Halych” conducts mapping, photo-documentation, and measurements of kurgans. Kurgans are ancient burial mounds formed by stacking earthen sod. They are located to the right and left of the Lviv – Ivano-Frankivsk highway, near the villages of Kozyna, Krylos, Viktoriv, and in the Dibrova forest (between the villages of Krylos and Sokil). Ancient burial mounds are found in the forest, often on the highest points of the relief. There are also clusters of kurgans, so-called “kurgan fields,” which date back to the Bronze Age and belong to the Corded Ware culture or the Komariv culture.
Trypillian culture settlements have been discovered near the villages of Dubivtsi, Sokil, Kozyna, Zalukva. A multi-layered site is located near the village of Zalukva (Kanada tract), on a high terrace of the left bank of the Lukva River, a right tributary of the Dniester. This area is currently occupied by an old orchard. Bronze Age settlements of the Noa culture, Trypillian culture stages A, B II, and the Middle Ages have been discovered.
A multi-layered settlement was discovered near the village of Tustan. The settlement is located on the left bank of the Hnyla Lypa River, a left tributary of the Dniester River. The site occupied a gentle hill in the Pohranychna tract between the village of Tustan and the urban-type settlement of Bilshivtsi.

Ancient Rus settlements: Zalukva village, Karpytsia tract with the Savior Church; between Zalukva village and Shevchenkove, the right bank of the Dniester River; the northern part of Krylos village where a craft settlement was located near the Tserkvysko tract with the Annunciation Church, near Dubivtsi village, on the left bank of the Hnyla Lypa River, near the railway station of Halych town, near Silets village.
